 MASTER CLASS FEE = $150.00

ABOUT THE MASTER CLASSES

Join the Director and our faculty for an exciting and insightful series of Master Classes held across Australia and New Zealand. These Master Classes are aimed to assist external students who are not enrolled in MAARTS in elevating their artistry and classical ballet technique.

In addition, we will be offering in-depth coaching and mentoring in classical repertoire/variations which is a strong suit of our Academy and faculty and has been acknowledged worldwide by International Directors, Dancers & Teachers from leading ballet schools and companies and has also been evident in our many International accolades at the top international ballet competitions worldwide.

VAGANOVA METHOD

Melbourne Academy of the Arts’ system of training is in the Russian Vaganova Method. It is acknowledged all over the world as the foremost training syllabus of the classical ballet. The Vaganova method is a ballet technique and training system devised by the Russian dancer and pedagogue Agrippina Vaganova (1879–1951).

The Vaganova method provides students with a structured, scientific, and methodological approach to dance which takes human anatomy into consideration.

Each element of classical ballet is studied in great detail and these elements are then made more advanced as the students progress.

REPERTOIRE & VARIATIONS

The method, developed in Russia over the course of 300 years and was derived from the teachings of the Premier Maitre de Ballet, Marius Petipa, throughout the late 19th century.

The method embodies the classicism of the Russian Imperial Ballet (now known as the Kirov or Mariinsky Ballet) and is designed and based on the ability to execute and perform all classical repetoire in 19th Century ballets such as Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle etc.

Hence the Master Class Series will also embody studying variations from the classical repertoire that is inline with the Vaganova method.
