Emily has studied dance and performing arts all her life, studying various styles of classical, modern and commercial dance (ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, musical theatre, broadway jazz), as well as singing, drama, and theatre. Emily has also had a wide variety of performance experience in both dance and musical theatre productions, and has coached students of all ages and skill levels in dance, drama, and singing. A student of MA Arts herself, Emily studied under Miss Jasmina’s tutelage since the opening of the Academy. After being mentored by both Jasmina Stefkovski and Winston Morrison and MA Arts, Emily joined the Academy’s teaching faculty in 2013. Emily also works behind the scenes at MA Arts, working in the administration team and assisting the Academy Director in staging and producing all Academy productions. Additionally, Emily supports the Academy’s Parents and Friends Committee in work taking place all year in the lead up to each academy production.
Currently, alongside her work at MA Arts, Emily studies a Bachelor of Education (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts at Monash University in order to further her knowledge of teaching and learning. Emily is passionate about understanding adolescent and childhood development and diversity in order to create lessons that are both engaging and beneficial for her students in not only the disciplines of dance and performance, but also in order to nurture skills that will assist them in all parts of their lives.
Emily is qualified in Educational Support, and works closely with early learning, primary and secondary schools around Melbourne, researching strategies for increasing engagement, participation and attendance in schools using co-curricula such as dance, art and music.
